<p>Wil je naast je krachttraining ook cardio doen om vet te verliezen? Dan is het handig om te weten hoeveel kilocalorieën je verbruikt bij uitvoeren van het gekozen type cardio. Ook als je nog geen cardio doet, kunnen de calculators je helpen om een keuze te maken voor de beste cardio voor jouw situatie.</p>
<p>Hoeveel kilocalorieën je verbruikt bij cardio is voornamelijk afhankelijk van de soort cardio, je eigen lichaamsgewicht, en de intensiteit waarmee je de cardio uitvoert.</p>
<p>Wetenschappers hebben het energieverbruik bij verschillende soorten cardio vastgelegd in &#8216;MET&#8217;-scores. MET staat voor &#8216;<strong>Metabolic Equivalent of Task</strong>&#8216;, dus: een waarde voor energieverbruik bij het uitvoeren van een taak.</p>
<p>Een MET-waarde van 1 staat hierbij gebruik aan het energieverbruik in rust (stilzitten), en een verbruik van 1 kilocalorie per kilogram lichaamsgewicht per uur.</p>

<p>Bij het uitvoeren van cardio verbruik je uiteraard meer energie. Daarom heeft het uitvoeren van cardio een hogere MET waarde. De MET-waarde van veel verschillende activiteiten zijn te vinden in <a href="http://prevention.sph.sc.edu/tools/docs/documents_compendium.pdf" data-wpel-link="external" target="_blank" rel="noopener">deze lijst</a>.</p>

<p>De MET-waardes maken het dus gemakkelijk om het calorieverbruik te schatten bij verschillende soorten cardio. Op deze pagina kun je gebruik maken van calculators die volgens de bovengenoemde methode uitrekenen hoeveel kcal je verbrandt.</p>
<p>Er staan hieronder calculators voor het energieverbruik bij vier verschillende soorten cardio: fietsen, hardlopen, wandelen, en roeien. Hierbij kun je de intensiteit van de cardio selecteren, en je lichaamsgewicht en de tijdsduur invullen. De hoeveelheid kcal die je verbrandt wordt aan de hand van de ingevulde opties berekend.</p>
